Printable Glycolysis Diagrams HD

Resourceful diagrams are available for you in high definition! This time we have collected a large selection of glycolysis diagram for you to save. Glycolysis is the metabolic process that serves as the foundation for both aerobic and anaerobic cellular respiration. In glycolysis, glucose is converted into pyruvate. Glucose is a six- membered ring molecule found in the blood and is usually a result of the breakdown of carbohydrates into sugars. It enters cells through specific transporter proteins that move it from outside the cell into the cell’s cytosol. All of the glycolytic enzymes are found in the cytosol. Take a look at the following printable diagram below.

In the glycolysis diagram above you can see that the process occurs in cytoplasm. It breaks down glucose into pyruvate. It occurs in the cytoplasm with or without oxygen (O2). This process occurs in the cytosol (cytoplasm) of both prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells.Glycolysis is the starting point for both anarobic and aerobic respiration and is the basic method of converting a simple sugar into energy. The other teaching diagrams of glycolysis are as follows.

The glycolytic pathway can be divided into two phases: preparatory and payoff phase. The first phase is also called glucose activation phase. In the preparatory phase of glycolysis, two molecules of ATP are invested and the hexose chain is cleaved into two triose phosphates. During this, phosphorylation of glucose and it’s conversion to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate take place. This phase is also called energy extraction phase. During this phase, conversion of glyceraldehyde-3-phophate to pyruvate and the coupled formation of ATP take place. Because Glucose is split to yield two molecules of D-Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, each step in the payoff phase occurs twice per molecule of glucose. The steps after 5 constitute payoff phase.
