We’re sometimes wondering how on earth an earthquake could happen, when all we can do is only making a guess? Well, actually almost everything in this whole universe can be explained, including earthquake. As one of the most occuring natural disaster, earthquake quite causes great damage. So, to know further about this nature phenomenon, it’s not a loss to take a look on the earthquake diagrams, like the one on the following image.
What is an earthquake? According to Encyclopedia, an earthquake is a geological event inside the earth that generates strong vibrations. When the vibrations reach the surface, the earth shakes, often causing damage to natural and manmade objects, and sometimes killing and injuring people and destroying their property. Earthquakes can occur for a variety of reasons; however, the most common source of earthquakes is movement along a fault. Each year, more than a million earthquakes occur worldwide. Most of these are so small that people do not feel the shaking. But some are large enough that people feel them, and a few of those are so large that they cause significant damage.
In these earthquake diagrams, there’s picture of process that lets us imagine what goes on in the outer crust. The most effective way to minimize the hazards of earthquakes is to build new buildings or retrofit old ones to withstand the short, high-speed acceleration of earthquake shocks.
Learning about earthquake will not ever be complete unless you use sufficient materials to show to your students. All these diagrams are printable in all size.
